個人簡介 磊勒丹‧巴瓦瓦隆
排灣族藝術家磊勒丹˙巴瓦瓦隆，出生於臺灣屏東縣三地門鄉大社村（達瓦蘭部落）。其家族素有藝匠手巧之人（Pulima）的傳統，自小即受父親撒古流的藝術薰陶，常跟隨父親跑田野，沈浸在母體文化與藝術環境中，汲取文化養份並培養手藝；高中就讀藝術學校，精進創作技能與開拓創作視野，也確立了他朝藝術領域邁進的想法。磊勒丹創作多元，繪畫、平面設計、雕塑、金工、裝置藝術等形式，在傳統媒材與新媒體間穿梭自如。具臺灣原住民族駐村計畫藝術家等經歷。 磊勒丹的繪畫極具個人辨識度，有寫實地刻畫部落群像的真切、有簡化人物造型流露的真趣、以及優游於寫實與抽象間，以傳統符碼置入現代情境中的超現實意象，展現藝術家構思的慧黠機鋒與活躍思考，以及對在傳統文化與現代生活的夾縫間，幽默戲謔的批判觀察，姿態超齡。磊勒丹認為，不只是透過繪畫來紀錄對現況的觀察，更重要的是創作須寄寓主觀思想與觀念，亦即隱藏在現況觀察背後，更本源的文化核心價值與思考為何？透過創作傳遞觀察與思考，而非表象而無意義的紀錄，是他的堅持所在。具想法且不隨波逐流的磊勒丹，在創作上也創立個人品牌「阿笛丹（ATITAN）」，表達土地的孩子在母體文化滋養與現代設計的激盪下所創造的新動能；在不同媒材之間，勇於嘗試以個人觀點，譜寫屬於土地原真、人文內涵、幽默諧趣交織的當代設計美學。
Personal Profile Reretan Pavavaljung
Paiwan artist, Reretan Pavavaljung, was born into the Tavadran tribe of Dashe village, Sandimen town in Pingtung County. His family has a pulima tradition and he took on his father’s artistic upbringing when he was little, following along on his field research trips. Immersed in his mother culture and artistic surroundings, he absorbed all this cultural nutrition and cultivated his craftsmanship. He studied in a senior school of arts, improving his creative technique and broadening his artistic vision, which convinced him to continue forward in the art field. Reretan’s art creation is multi-faceted, including painting, graphic design, sculpture, goldsmithing and installation art. He is able to deal with traditional materials and new media freely, and has taken part in various resident artist projects as a Taiwanese aborigine. Reretan’s paintings are highly recognizable. There are realistic ones that faithfully depict tribal living, and there are simplified ones that are intriguingly genuine. He meanders between the realistic and the abstract, placing traditional codes in modern situations to create surrealistic images. His cynical and humorous observations and criticisms appear to be more mature than his age. Reretan believes that observations on the presentday shouldn’t be just recordedin a painting, but it should also include subjective thoughts and ideas. That is to say what is the essential cultural core value hidden behind any observations on the present day? He insists that instead of just superficially recording, an artcreation should carry and communicate the artist’s thoughts. As a maverick artist, Reretan founded his own brand, “Atitan”, expressing how a child of the earth finds his creative drive through the nourishment of mother culture and the impact of modern design. Through multiple media, he takes on the challenge of creating his own contemporary design aesthetic on his native land, culture and humanity with added humor and wit.
